Quote for October

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.
--- Mark Twain

Message From Rita

October is the month of Halloween, ghosts and goblins, so in keeping with a "Spooky" theme, we'll explore the Fears that can cause us to procrastinate.

Some Fears That Might Cause You To Procrastinate

  • Fear of FAILURE
  • Fear of SUCCESS
  • Fear of REJECTION
  • Fear of IMPERFECTION
  • Fear of THE UNKNOWN
  • Fear of TOO MUCH RESPONSIBILITY
  • Fear of FINISHING
  • Fear of MAKING A MISTAKE
  • Fear of NOT BEING "GOOD ENOUGH"
  • Fear of CHANGE
  • Fear of IMPOSING
  • Fear of HAVING TO LIVE UP TO A HIGH STANDARD
  • Fear of MAKING THE WRONG DECISION

Our fears tend to be subconscious and often have the power to immobilize us into a "putting things off" state. But once we identify that fear, & give it a name, it usually loses that power.

When you simply keep putting off doing something, ask yourself "What am I afraid of?" (If you're interested in learning more about this, it is covered in deeper detail in Chapter 4 of THE PROCRASTINATOR'S HANDBOOK)
